Thematically rather heavy-handed, but that is possibly the only complaint I could come up with about this Chuck Wendig's Blackbirds
. The rest is just affirmative nods on the quality of this excellently cinematic story. I don't want to label it as an urban fantasy, because a lot of urban fantasy stories have an entirely different flavor. This book tastes like blood, old cigarettes and vodka, and I guzzled it down.
