The Moment Stealer

Crown Duel - Sherwood Smith Meliara is everything I dislike in a heroine. She's too quick to rise to temper (and to prejudice) at the slightest provacation, and irrational besides. I remember rolling my eyes a lot while I read. Most of her characters are flat and somewhat cookie cutter. The prose isn't anything close to special, being immature and frankly annoying sometimes. It sometimes read like a high schooler wrote it. The only thing good to come of this was Vidanric, really, but I'll admit that he was something of a stereotype.

All that said, I still finished the book, and reread it a few times. Because say what you like about her unpolished prose and two-dimensional characters, it's a fun ride, if you're not looking for anything too deep to sink your teeth into.
